Cricut Comparison - Which one to buy?

There are now five Cricut models. They are all made by Provo Craft. How do you know which one to buy? Should you start from a young age or go further from a bat? I will provide you with each fact in a simple language so that you can decide for yourself what is best for you. We will discuss four basic machines. There is now a Cricut Cake machine, but it's very similar to Cricut Expression, and I don't plan to introduce that.

Let's break it down

Original Cricut: (aka Baby Bug)

  • Pad size = 6 x 12

  • Can use all cartridges

  • All blades and housings can be used

  • Can use tags

  • Cut any size paper suitable for the mat

  • Cutting ranges from 1 inch to 5-1 / 2 inches in increments of half an inch.

  • Connect to your PC and use Design Studio or Sure Cuts software

Cricut Create : (Sorted as a mix of Baby Bug and expressions. It's still small, but with some features of Cricut Expression)

  • Can use all cartridges

  • All blades and housings can be used

  • Can use tags

  • Cut any size paper suitable for the mat

  • Cutting ranges from 1/4 inch to 11-1 / 2 inch in one-quarter inch increments.

  • Connect to your PC and use Design Studio or Sure Cuts software

  • There are some creative function buttons (turning pages, suitable for pages, suitable for length, center point, etc.)

  • Connect to your PC and use Design Studio or Sure Cuts software

Cricut expresses:

  • Pad size = 12 x 12 or 12 x 24

  • Can use all cartridges

  • All blades and housings can be used

  • Can use tags

  • Cut any size paper suitable for any size pad

  • Cut sizes range from 1/4" to 23-1 / 2" in quarter-inch increments.

  • There are many creative function buttons (turning pages, suitable for pages, suitable for length, center point, etc.)

  • There are mode keys (quantity, auto fill, portrait, etc.)

  • Connect to your PC and use Design Studio or Sure Cuts software

Cricut Imagine: (the latest and largest models. The merger of Cricut machines and color printers)

  • Pad size = 12 x 12 (special black pad)

  • Can use all cartridges

  • All blades and housings can be used

  • Cut or print on any size paper suitable for the mat or both

  • Cutting sizes from 1/4" to 11-1" 2 inches in increments of a quarter of an inch

  • There are many creative features (turning pages, suitable for pages, suitable for length, center point, etc.)

  • Mode (quantity, auto fill, portrait, etc.)

  • The machine will print out the image and then cut it.

  • Have a liquid crystal display and use the stylus to navigate the screen

The same accessories are compatible with all machines. Cartridges, blades, markers and tools are not machine specific. The cutting mat is the only mat that varies depending on the machine. The new Imagine also needs a new black mat. Old green mats can't use it.

If you want this machine to be portable, weight and size can be a factor for you.

Weight size

  • Personal Cricut 7 lbs. 15.5" x 7" x 7"

  • Cricut creates 10.75 lbs of 15.5" x 7" x 7"

  • Cricut expressed 13.4 pounds. 21.5" x 7" x 7.75"

  • Cricut imagines 28 pounds. 23.5" x 9" x 13.5"

Both Personal and Create are small portable light machines. If you are using a project for crops or different activities, you may want to consider one of them. They are lightweight and easy to move. The expression is heavier and bigger. If you have a craft room or scrapbook space, you don't need to move it often, you can use this machine to get more choices.

Hope this helps you decide which machine is best for you!
