I met a lot of backpackers during my trip to China and they tried to solve this chaotic Guangzhou city. Most people told me about their experience of getting out of the city train station, just met a lot of people, pollution and traffic jams, then retreated to the nearest hotel to catch the morning train. But this is not true Guangzhou.
The west side of the city is filled with narrow streets, old buildings and small vendors. The Shamian Island of the Pearl River is home to ancient colonial buildings. The streets are lined with eucalyptus trees, which are much slower than the rest of the city. North of the sand surface is Guangzhou and it has become interesting. Qingping Market occupies many city blocks and is known for selling everything from live scorpions to cognac. The government has been hitting the market for the past decade because it was renamed to sell bears in cages and other endangered species. section. But don't let go, there is still a lot to check.
Further north, you will encounter the upper and lower streets [up and down]. The street is a few kilometers north, full of neon lights and old buildings, and has been converted into a store. The store blasts techno music and the staff stands in front of applause and yells trying to make more noise, then the next store completes your attention.
Go down the alley and you will be lost in the maze of alleys. The old man sat and played Chinese chess and barked at each other, trying to throw two cents into it. On some of the larger streets, you will find the best street food in China, chuans. They are kebabs cooked with coal, adding cumin seeds and peppers. The best is the supplier from the Uighurs, you can smell coal a mile away. For only 20 bucks, you will get a fist.
If you can, let Guangzhou be the last stop for your backpacking trip. This way you don't have to carry a full shopping backpack because Guangzhou is the best shopping place in the world. It is a wholesale market in other parts of Asia. Almost everything has a market. Look at the electronic products of Haiyin Stone Factory, Wanling Shichang so everything is in the sun, but the best one is standing on the Zhanxi Road stone field next to the train station. Its buildings are filled with watches, accessories, clothes and shoes. It has all the fakes, but it has a lot of original stuff. This is the cheapest place to shop in China, you don't even have to bargain. Guangzhou lacks visitors to keep prices low, and you only need wholesale prices to get most of the things. The street food in front is also great. Try dumplings, Sichuan and pancakes.
Give Guangzhou a few days in a backpack trip, and finally you will fall in love with this place.
