The CRKT Gallagher Badger folding knife is highly regarded for its economy and top performance. I have always liked Columbia River Knives and tools, so I decided to buy one of my own. Here is my opinion on the knife:
I like this knife:
1. CRKT uses their patented "prominent" auxiliary opening mechanism that will open the blade all the way once you open it about 30 degrees. This feature is very useful for emergency personnel and law enforcement personnel who do not have time to waste.
2. 5Cr15MoV high carbon stainless steel constitutes the Badger blade. My knife started to blow sharply from the box. A non-reflective black oxide coating helps prevent rusting of the blade.
3. 2.85 inches, this blade is ideal for everyday carrying and / or light practical work. It's big enough to do most of the work, but small enough to keep you from being arrested.
You will notice that Gallagher Badger has a very unique blade style. CRKT calls it the "gap drop point." At first glance, it almost looks like the knife has a small intestine hook, but it is not. This feature is used to keep the blade light while maintaining a strong spine and uniform weight distribution.
The handle of the knife not only looks great, but also feels good. The CRKT features a green and black G-10 layer that provides excellent sandpaper-like grip and is tough like a nail.
I don't like it:
It's not made with smart pocket clips. With such a unique and practical design, I hope it can also be used by left-handers.
