Blue willow history
I saw the credit for the willow porcelain model for at least two different people. One of them is Thomas Turner, who is said to have launched this famous design around 1780. The original copper plate of his design was carved by Thomas Minton and still in China's Coalport China. The most reported story is that the willow design is the creation of Josiah Spode, a derivative of the Chinese primitive Mandarin. Spode developed his willow pattern around 1790.
The traditional willow design always has a beautiful Chinese house with a willow tree, three small bridges, a humble servant room at the foot of the bridge, a Chinese boat, and of course a famous love bird above the willow tree. Romantic design legends may increase its popularity over the years.
The story is like this...
A long time ago, in the days when China was ruled by the emperor, a Chinese mandarin ancestor lived on the magnificent pagoda under the apple tree branch on the right side of the bridge, where the famous willows drooped, and in the front they could see the fence. Beautiful lines. Tso Ling is the father of a beautiful girl Kwang-se, a promised bride of an old and wealthy businessman. However, this girl fell in love with her father's staff Zhang. Lovers rushed through the sea to the huts on the island. When God turned them into a pair of turtles, Mandarin chased and caught the lovers and prepared to kill them. You can see these gazing at each other's eyes at the top of the design. A long and ancient poem in Stafford County ends with this verse: "In the often quoted dishes, two birds are recognized, above is the heights of heaven: these are the spirits of Chang'an and light. It is a pair of twins in love."
