Why do you want to implement an ancient Asian belief system in the Western world? If the house or office is not turned into something similar to a Chinese restaurant, how do the East and West merge?
Feng Shui is a kind of ancient Chinese art: studying the movement of chi [energy] in the environment. Treatment is usually a Chinese god and other symbols that are strange to Westerners, and their belief systems are often far from Asian beliefs.
So why do Westerners want to practice Chinese feng shui? Hey...because it works? You don't even have to believe in the Chinese spirit to make feng shui effective. This is the study of it from

Not a religion. In fact, if you want to bring religion into it, you can replace the Western version of the gods. It may take a little thought to convert, but it does transform across religions - if you look at it from a quantum physics perspective, it makes more sense.
Many Westerners who like to try this ancient custom think that their Western-style home will become a Chinese restaurant and the bedroom will become an opium nest. No, Grasshoppa; Western families can decorate as they please. Even the Southwestern style is easy to use by using the same principles as when thinking about treatment. Only knowledgeable feng shui practitioners will notice the principle of using non-Asian treatments. Of course, this requires more effort than just going to the supplier and buying the treatment you need. Some of us have found that the size of the treatment is small enough to be easily hidden in the decoration. That's right, this is an easy way, but it works.
Some of the energy consultations I've done involve determining which treatments are available in a client's home that do not conflict with the visitor or cause annoying problems. Some people are too sensitive to the perceptions of friends, family and business partners about such things. They want to avoid ridicule at all costs, they want to try the art of feng shui jumping, it does improve their lives. Ok, don't be afraid of timid Westerners and detail-oriented decorators... Feng Shui is friendly to everyone, you can have it, hide it, and let those who make you curious your people.
But fair warning: Once you find out how good feng shui will make your life, you will be addicted. At this point, you may just tell the mockers to laugh at what they want when their lives collapse around them, and you spend your life relatively unscathed.
