Learning Karate - Shuto Uke Kokutsu Dachi (Knife Hand Block Back Stance) Part 2

In the first article, we described the arm position of the Shuto uke. In this article, we will explain the shuto uke [knife hand] that advances in kokutsu dachi [back standing position].

Although this is classified as basic karate technology, most people find it difficult and uncomfortable. Therefore, we will break this step and divide it into small parts.

Develop the habit of breaking the new karate down and then they become easier to understand the small details.

Start with the left leg in front.

1. Go forward [left] knees and start the steps. Imagine someone holding your left wrist and they will pull you forward, letting your left arm stretch forward, your hands stretch out, and your fingers straight.

2. While performing the number 1, lift the right arm up from the stomach up to the left. When lifting your arm, keep your forearms close to your body and keep your elbows in the center of your chest. When the right hand reaches the left shoulder [the palm is facing the neck], the hand is open and the fingers and wrists are straight.

3. The action of the upper knee and the two arms should be completed at the same time. After performing the above actions, immediately start moving forward with your right leg and push the right side of the body forward.

4. Maintain the same height throughout the steps, knees at the middle point, body squares and feet facing forward.

5. When you start the second half of the step, start at the middle point and keep your weight on your back [left] leg.

6. When you move in this quarter of the step, keep your feet facing forward. At this point, start blocking with the right arm and pull the left hikite arm back.

7. When the hikite arm is pulled back, keep the palm facing down, and when the blocking arm is extinguished, point the palm toward you and the elbow. Block the back of the forearm from sliding down to the inside of the hikite arm.

8. When you land on the full kokutsu dachi [back posture], the left foot [rear foot] turns sharply, turning your left foot and knee to the side.

9. When you complete the arm movement, turn the two forearms sharply so that the palm of the hikite [left] arm is facing up and the palm of the arm is blocked toward the inside and slightly downward.

10. Both numbers 8 and 9 should be executed at exactly the same time.

11. Thoughtful and ready to implement the block.

Most karate began practicing this special karate technique, and some moths perform karate training. This is one of the most difficult actions to master in all basic karate moves. Whether you are attending karate or learning karate at home, I recommend breaking the technique and repeating it again and again. Gradually start to gradually establish the highest speed.

In the first article of the first part of the Shuto Uke Kokutsu Dachi [Knife Hand Block Back Stance], we introduced the basic arm position of the Shuto uke
