Did Jeet Kune die with Bruce Lee? JKD is just a jerk of "No matter what works"? Can you teach Jeet Kune?
Simply search for Jeet Kune Do in any martial arts online forum and you will soon discover that hundreds [if not thousands] of experts claim that JKD is not a style and cannot be taught. They say it is a philosophy, not a system, and anyone who claims to teach Jeet Kune Do is a fraud. They distorted and distorted Bruce Lee's words, saying that the teaching of Jeet Kune Do is teaching a "crystallization" that runs counter to everything the founder represents.
Now for the truth.
I have been researching and training Jeet Kune Do for nearly a decade from famous pedigrees, including Ted Wong, Dan Inosanto, Bob Bremer and Wednesday Night Group. Although the original students differ in tactics, training, and technology, the emphasis is on the principle that the core biomechanical structure is basically the same. I can say with absolute confidence that Bruce Lee actually taught physics, specific skills and strategies, and called it Jeet Kune Do.
Bruce Lee's ultimate goal is to transcend style and "traditional" human limitations, but there is still a very unique and tangible, albeit evolving methodology.
Bruce Lee himself recorded his martial arts through written and verbal descriptions, as if it were a quantifiable thing, distinct from other martial arts, but tangible and teachable - a style.
Indeed, Bruce Lee taught his private students different things to suit their personal strengths and reduce their weaknesses, but the foundation of his approach, and the unique "flavors" he added, were identical and very unique.
The goal is to transcend style and limits, but style, limits and transcendence are basically human, so they are always more or less part of our experience.
With this in mind, the next logical question is, "Can you teach Jeet Kune?"
Yes, part of the reason. You can teach physical, technical, and strategic aspects, while spiritual, ethereal, and personal development must be realized and nurtured by individuals on a very conscious level.
Bruce Lee was deeply influenced by Taoist philosophy and incorporated many seeming contradictions and objections into the clues of unity and unity. Jeet Kun Do also contains this element, so those who don't understand the yin and yang opposition/continuum will continue to argue without any real punishment for the matter.
Why is there so much experience, and the argument against the preservation and inheritance of the original Bruce Lee's doctrine is beyond my scope. Bruce Lee is not saying that his JKD is the end of martial arts training. It has been changing, and if he is still alive, it will definitely be different today. There is no doubt that this is a great system. This is an important starting point for self-exploration in martial arts. The idea is not to maintain Bruce Lee's "road" because it cannot be improved, but future generations can benefit from the original, unrepaired body of knowledge and use it as a platform to find their own "road."
As a martial artist inspired by Bruce Lee, I do my best to preserve his martial arts heritage by providing the most accurate and accurate Jeet Kune Do training and tailor it for individual students to achieve maximum growth.
I think the founders will be happy and proud that people are using his skills, philosophy and training methods as inspirational tools to go beyond limits.
What do you think?
