Create your own blog - 6 simple projects created by Tris Hussey, start blogging like a professional

If you want to learn about blogs, Tris Hussey's "Create your own blog: 6 simple projects, start blogging like a professional" is a great resource. This is great for new blogs. For an experienced blog, I bet you will learn one or two more things. But it is really for beginners and intermediate bloggers.

What I really like is that Hussey provides a lot of details and information. This book really helped the two websites/blogs I just created. If I decided to add some different videos and audios to my blog, I will use it as a reference.

Hussey admits that he likes WordPress, and that this book is more about WordPress than other blogging platforms. With this said, he did mention some other things like Blogger or TypePad. Hussey said he tried all the different blog platforms and preferred and recommended WordPress, so most of the information refers to the platform for creating blogs, but if you choose another blog, many concepts and ideas will be useful. This is another thing I like about this book. Hussey shares a lot of resources, and many of them are free and can help you do what you want.

There is a brief introduction on how to use this book, then a brief history of the blog and how to get started. There is a basic chapter on installing and setting up your first blog. This is very basic and goes to the novice by setting. Don't know what the plugin or widget is? This chapter will tell you.

The third chapter focuses on writing and creating conversations, while the fourth chapter focuses on building communities. The fifth chapter is the first of six projects. Six are: creating personal blogs; creating business blogs; creating podcast blogs; video blogs; creating portfolio blogs; creating online life streams; and rewarding chapters that make money through blogs.

In these chapters, Hussey does guide you through everything you want to do with your blog. He introduced the basics and how to record, edit, and publish audio and video, as well as topics such as Twitter, Cliqset, and how to integrate all published content and content. I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of information and details provided. The last chapter is a bonus, which may have the least amount of information, but he does cover the basic way people make money through blogs.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to start blogging, or who wants to improve their blog presence or take their blog to the next level with audio or video. Great blog reference.
