Hypoallergenic Dog - Is this your dog?

When we talk about hypoallergenic dogs, we mean that they have a lesser or lesser tendency to cause allergies or allergic reactions in allergic patients.

It is estimated that about 10% of the US population is allergic to animals [American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunity]. Symptoms of the reaction can range from watery eyes to dangerous asthma attacks.

The problem is not the pet's hair. It is the dandruff or microscopic scale of the skin [similar to dandruff on the human scalp, but much smaller than dandruff], and the constant loss of pets is the cause of dead skin. They are very small, and you rarely know that they circulate in the air or on furniture and carpets because they are too small.

This is a list of hypoallergenic dogs. If I missed any of my apologies.

  • American Hairless Terrier

  • Buy basenji

  • Border stalk

  • Cairn Terrier

  • Chinese crown hair [hairless]

  • Havana

  • Kelly Blue Terrier

  • Maltese

  • Mini schnauzer

  • Portuguese water dog

  • West Shizi

  • Soft coated pasta stalk

  • Spanish water dog

  • Standard poodle

  • Standard Schnauzer

  • Tibetan Terrier

  • Toy poodle

  • West Highland White Terrier

  • Hard-haired fox terrier

  • Yorkshire Terrier

Keep in mind that no dogs are 100% hypoallergenic and allergic patients respond differently to each individual dog breed. For the owners of West Highland Terriers, like myself, the news is good. They are considered to be good for allergic patients and have relatively low dander [ranked 7th]. However, you need to be reminded that one person's allergies may be very different from another person. It is always recommended to visit the home of the dog you want before taking it home. I hope that you can find this article for you.
